The Gilpin Gold Tram is an historic 2 foot gauge railroad built in Gilpin County Colorado to serve the gold mines in the area. This post will describe how you can hike the Gilpin Gold Tram right of way. These are great hikes near Back Hawk Colorado. These hikes are also near Central City Colorado.
The city of Black Hawk Colorado purchased about 800 acres encompassing Maryland Mountain and has developed a trailhead and many trails throughout the property. Some of the trails are the remnants of the Gilpin Gold Tram right of way.
Other hikes will start from various places in Black Hawk and Central City and visit various places of interest with reference to the Gilpin Gold Tram.

Hidden Treasure Trail Head
The city of Black Hawk Colorado purchased about 800 acres encompassing Maryland Mountain and has developed a trailhead and many trails throughout the property. Some of the trails are the remnants of the Gilpin Gold Tram right of way. The official trailhead is on Route 119 just north of Blackhawk. There’s a nice parking lot and a bridge gives you access to the trails by crossing over 119.
